Why did you choose to sing pop opera? Have you ever been afraid of the difficulties to enter the showbiz world by choosing this musical style?

Well, I am a classically trained singer – so this is the kind of music I sing./ Ei bine, eu sunt cantareata de formare clasica – asa ca acesta este genul de muzica pe care il cant.

What feelings does it give you to be the representant of your country at Lisbon?

I’m very proud because the number of votes by the people of Estonia in Eesti Laul was amazing, and I’m really, really thankful for all this support and I hope that I can make Estonia proud – and to give a great present for our 100-year jubilee!

“La forza” is a special song, tell us a bit more about its story, its message and its composers. / “La forza” este un cantec special. Spune-ne mai multe despre povestea, mesajul si compozitorii sai.

Last summer I met Mihkel Mattisen and Timo Vendt after they heard me singing at my friend’s wedding and they thought it might be nice to do some interesting music together. They wrote the song especially for my voice and I really liked the melody. Then me and my friend Ksenia Kuchukova wrote the lyrics and we sent the song to Eesti Laul, and you know the rest!
La Forza is about real love that enlightens our way, gives us wings, takes us to the sky and gives us a real power so that we can even move mountains. It’s about universal love – love for children, love for parents, love for nature. It’s all these kinds of love.
.

Aren’t you afraid of participating with this kind of song at a musical contest like Eurovision? / Ai vreo temere in a participa cu o astfel de piesa in cadrul unui concurs precum Eurovision?

I’m not worried at all about that. I hope that this kind of genre will awake interest in people for classical music and vocals and that people will discover that opera and classical music isn’t something boring – instead that it’s something really interesting and beautiful that gives a lot to our souls and hearts. I’m hoping to have an impact like that on people.

How are you preparing for the big final from May?

I’m just doing my usual things. Performing, singing and practicing. I’m also making sure to remember to rest and charge my batteries a little bit, because I tend to overwork myself. So, I need to be in balance with work and rest. / Fac doar lucrurile mele obisnuite.

What are your future plans after the moment Lisbon 2018?

I have a lot of interesting projects ahead! I have a solo concert, my first big solo concert in Tallinn where I am going to perform La Forza with a real orchestra, which will be an amazing event! This concert is going to tell about love, passion, anger – all these strong emotions that maybe we don’t feel every day. I am also going to Georgia with the Estonian National Orchestra to perform in a cultural exchange project connected with the Estonian 100-year jubilee. Of course, there will be lots of concerts and performances too as usual.

Have you listened the other countries’ songs? If it weren’t for your song, which do you think has the most chances to become the winning song this year in Eurovision? / Ai ascultat piesele celorlalte tari? In afara de piesa ta, care crezi ca are cele mai multe sanse de a fi piesa castigatoare a Eurovisionului din acest an?

So far, my favourites are from Georgia and Denmark. I love the voices of Iriao and think they sound beautiful and I think Rasmussen’s Viking anthem is really cool. As for the winner – I am not sure!

How do you see pop opera developing in the future? What advice would you give to someone who choose to start a career with pop opera genre?

Well, I am an opera singer first and foremost and the opera world is not easy; you have to work a lot. And even when you are working a lot it doesn’t mean you will get to the big stage because the competition is huge. But, I think that everything we do, we must do with our hearts and souls and if we really love what we do, it will get us somewhere. So, do everything with great love.

How far do you know about Romania by now? Share a message for our readers and your Romanian admirers!

I’ve never been to Romania, but I’ve heard that you have a great culture with great food and wine! So, I hope one day I get to go there and see it with my own eyes.
My message is that in our society we should talk more about real love and real feelings. We need to be here and now – not in our smart phones but really here, connecting with each other and giving love. Love is the greatest power of all. This is what La Forza is all about and I hope you enjoy my song
