Which is the most important musical lesson received throughout your carreer?

Don’t try to be someone else. Just be yourself. Do whatever you feel is right and be authentic./ Nu incerca sa fii altcineva. Doar fii tu insuti.

What does it mean to you to participate to this year’s Eurovision Song Contest and why did you take this decision? / Ce inseamna pentru tine participarea in acest an la Eurovision Song Contest si de ce ai luat aceasta decizie?

This is a dream come true for me. I’ve always been a big fan of the Eurovision Song Contest, watching it every year with my entire family. Always was one of my highlights of the year. Now that I figured my music seems to be very international, I came up with the idea “Hey.. wait. I’m a ESC Fan, my music has more than 1.5 million streams a month in countries like Sweden, Norway, UK, US.. isn’t that perfect for the ESC?”. As I always had that big dream of one day performing at the ESC, I somehow all of a sudden felt: now’s the time!
So I applied at the NDR and 1 month later got the call that I’m one of the last 20 acts. Funny thing was that when I applied, the NDR had already put an eye on me and had added me to the last 20 acts. So even if I wouldn’t have applied, the NDR would have contacted me. A good sign, I think.
Another sign was that I was actually in Portugal when Portugal won the ESC. And now I’ll be back in Portugal exactly one year later. So good! /
Totul e minunat!

Your country, apart from already having won Eurovision, is a very powerful European political force. Do you think these add value to your performance?

I don’t think this has anything to do with what I’m gonna do on stage in Lisbon. I’m only there to perform my song and that’s what I’m gonna do. I want people to like me and vote for me because they like what I do.

What makes an Eurovision song the best one?

I think it’s important that the song is special. It should be big, crazy and colourful, or it should be very intimate, personal and authentic. It need to stick out and not be only good and normal.

What are your hopes and fears for this year’s Eurovision?

What will your promoting video look like? What about your show on stage? / Cum va arata videoclipul tau de promovare? Dar show-ul de la Lisabona?

I can’t say anything about the video yet, but I can say that the show is not gonna be exactly the same as in the preselection in Berlin. It’s not gonna be totally different, but have a few changes in mind.

Voice or looks, what do you think that ensures more the success of a new artist nowadays?

I think it’s both. Voice is much more important, but also the look is important. You don’t need to look like a model, but it’s good to have a special look. / Cred ca ambele. Which is the general message that you want to spread to the world with your music?

I’m sharing my lyrics and my music with the world, because I hope that my songs will have a meaning for people in special moments, doesn’t matter if very happy or very sad moments. I for example get many messages that some of my songs did help in moments where people lost an important person. And that’s exactly what I hoped for.
